The Area
Kanalia is a suburb of Corfu Town, and abstain from it about 2 km. The name of the settlement that took a canal (channel) that was built during the Venetian period and which linked the Halikiopoulou lagoon, the current airport to the Ionian Sea. Today the canal does not exist. But it appears in books of that time and in different browsers and historical manuscripts who visited Corfu during the 12th to the 15th. At Kanalia are built mainly houses and in recent years have developed many commercial establishments and Resorts.
